Previously only available as part of BOOM BOX, No Doubt's EVERYTHING IN TIME is exactly what its subtitle (B-SIDES, RARITIES, REMIXES) suggests--a collection of tracks that either didn't make it onto the band's official albums or were created for non-album purposes (i.e. movie soundtracks, etc.). Luckily, none of these recordings are throwaways; all are up to the standards of No Doubt's major releases and powerfully showcase the Southern California ensemble's trademark mix of ska, punk, and New Wave sounds. Several songs reveal the quartet's more experimental side. "Cellophane Boy" recalls the Beatles' SGT. PEPPER'S-era work, employing psychedelic Mellotron swirls and bouncy, McCartney-esque bass work from Tony Kanal. "New Friend" is one of the most hip-hop-oriented tracks the group has done, and wouldn't sound out of place on a Beyonce or Usher album. "You're So Foxy," on the other hand, brings Gwen Stefani's Debbie Harry influence to the fore, its propulsive disco rhythms strongly recalling Blondie's classic "Heart of Glass." Topping off the rarities section is the grand, mid-tempo Elvis Costello tune "I Throw My Toys Around" (from THE RUGRATS MOVIE), which features an appearance by the distinguished author himself.

Sofia Coppola on Air

To celebrate 20 years since the release of her film “The Virgin Suicides”, Qobuz takes a look back at some of the top musical moments from the films of Sofia Coppola, like her collaborations with French duo Air or Thomas Mars from the band Phoenix.

The World According to Peter Gabriel

A figurehead of the British prog rock scene with Genesis, Peter Gabriel, who will turn 70 on February 13th, later became a champion of world music and an example of the politically engaged artist, through his label Real World, his Womad festivals and of course the protest song “Biko”, etched into the history books and made famous from the Amnesty International tour concerts. Let’s take a look back at the career of a pop star not like the others.

Fleetwood Mac: The Blues Period

Fleetwood Mac led two consecutive lives: a blues-driven outfit from the 1960s led by Peter Green, one of the greatest guitarists of his generation, and another, a pop-rock band that became one of the most acclaimed groups of its era. Their 1977 album, “Rumours”, remains, forty years later, one of the best-selling records of all time and yet the band’s lesser-known early years are no less captivating.
