Thee Sacred Souls

Formed in San Diego, California, Thee Sacred Souls is a retro soul trio who came to prominence when the signed to iconic soul label Daptone Records and released their debut album in 2022. The core of the band – Chula Vista, California natives Sal Samano (bass) and Alex Garcia (drums) – came together in 2017 and began jamming and writing soul instrumentals. Happy with the results, the duo decided to search for a lead singer, which is when Josh Lane came into the picture. Thee Sacred Souls began playing clubs in Southern California – from San Diego to Los Angeles – and were discovered by Daptone Records’ Bosco Mann (real name: Gabriel Roth). Signing to Penrose / Daptone Records, the group released their debut single, “Can I Call You Rose?” in 2020. They followed that release with a string of critically acclaimed singles including “Give Us Justice” (2020), “Will I See You Again?” (2021), “Easier Said Than Done” (2022) and “Trade of Hearts” (2022). Produced by Bosco Mann, Thee Sacred Souls released their self-titled album in August 2022. Using some of Daptone’s finest musicians, the group’s album earned them even more acclaim from critics and music fans alike. Two months later, Thee Sacred Souls issued the single “Easier Said Than Done” – including the non-album B-side “Love Is the Way” – which reached Number 39 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Songs chart.
