Technimatic

London-based duo Technimatic, comprising Peter Rogers and Andy Powell, came together in 2007, initially under their individual monikers Technicolour & Komatic. Their first collaborative effort came in the shape of Preacher, a drum'n'bass single released on Technique Recordings sister label Worldwide Audio in 2009, setting the tone for the emotionally charged style flavoring their subsequent releases. A string of successful singles would follow, including an official remix of LTJ Bukem's "Horizons," and one of the genre's premier labels, Shogun Audio, snapped them up in 2012. Their label debut, Intersection EP, dropped in summer 2013 and drew praise from respected DJs and radio stations, such as Mistajam and Friction on BBC Radio 1. The track "Bristol," their contribution to Shogun Audio's Way of the Warrior, Pt. 2 compilation, caught the attention of Gilles Peterson's 6 Music show, cementing the duo's place at the head table of the U.K.'s contemporary drum'n'bass scene. Their first full-length album, Desire Paths, was released in 2014. It drew plaudits for its old-school approach to classic drum'n'bass rollers, typical of other releases on their label home. Their follow-up EP, Flashbulb, dropped the next year; their brand of sun-drenched liquid D'n'B was a perfect fit for the summer of 2015, and the duo once again drafted in the vocals of Lucy Kitchen, who also appeared on their first album. Their summer 2016 album, Better Perspective, again on the Shogun Audio imprint, continued the theme of warm summer-appropriate liquid D'n'B, again featuring the vocals of Kitchen.
