Nacho Vegas

Nacho Vegas is the premier indie/folk-rocker of his generation, well known both as a solo artist and collaborator, having worked with a number of successful groups and artists. Born in Gijón in 1974, Vegas got his first taste of musical success with the group Eliminator Jr., emerging at the beginning of the '90s. Vegas was a founding member of a number of successful groups such as Los Planetas, Australian Blonde, and Manta Ray before electing to explore a solo career. That career was initiated by Vegas' solo debut record, Actos Inexplicables, released in 2001. The record became one of the most influential indie releases of the year, garnering success far beyond Spanish borders. Vegas continued to earn a reputation as an innovator, writing material akin to the works of artists like Leonard Cohen and Will Oldham in a scene dominated by pop flavor. Between his full-length album releases Vegas put out a series of EPs like Seis Canciones Desde el Norte (2001) and Esto No Es una Salida (2005) to hold audience interest. In 2006 Vegas began a period of collaboration, kicked off by a joint album with artist Enrique Bunbury, Bunbury & Vegas: El Tiempo de las Cerezas. On the heels of the 2006 release came Vegas' second joint venture, Nacho Vegas & Christina Rosenvinge: Verano Fatal, released in 2007 by the Limbo Starr label to a warm reception on the Spanish charts.
