Maureen McGovern
A technically dazzling singer with a four-octave coloratura range, Maureen McGovern made her first recording in 1972 with "The Morning After," the love theme from the THE POSEIDON ADVENTURE. It won an Academy Award for best song, and topped the Billboard charts. In 1974, she sang the Oscar-winning "We May Never Love Like This Again" on the soundtrack of THE TOWERING INFERNO, earning her the soubriquet "the Disaster Theme Queen." McGovern was also cast as the singing nun Sister Angelina in the 1980 disaster-spoof movie AIRPLANE! Later in the ‘80s, McGovern reinvented herself as both a successful Broadway performer and a neo-cabaret nightclub singer. In 1989 McGovern made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall. She continued to perform and record into the 2000s.
