Kenny Bee

Kenny Bee launched his career as a teen idol, performing with the Cantopop group The Wynners during the 1970s before rebranding himself as a platinum-selling solo act and film actor during the 180s. He was born as "Chung Chun-to" in Hong Kong on February 23, 1953. His talent as a vocalist landed him a spot in The Wynners, who formed in 1973 and charted multiple hits in Hong Kong before breaking up in 1978. Although the band would reunite multiple times during the subsequent decades, Kenny Bee earned even more success as a solo act, releasing his Mandarin debut (我的伙伴) in 1979 and his Cantonese debut (閃閃星辰) the following year. He also began appearing in feature-length albums like 1979's The Story of a Small Town and Good Morning, Taipei, both of which won Golden Horse Awards. Unlike many pop singers of the era, Kenny Bee distinguished himself by writing many of his own hits, which helped make him one of Hong Kong's biggest stars during the 1980s. The decade saw him releasing two platinum-selling albums, one gold record, and multiple hit singles, including "Let Everything Be Gone With the Wind" and "A Romance." Although his output slowed during the 21st century, he continued to release new material, including the Cantonese album 佛誕吉祥 in 2009 and the Mandarin album 男人 in 2004.
