Inhaler

Led by Elijah Hewson, Dublin's Inhaler play driving, soaring indie rock filled with chiming guitars, synths, and Hewson's emotive, wide-ranging vocals. On singles such as their 2018 debut, "I Want You," and 2020's "Falling In," the band crafted a lush, post-punk-inspired sound that they built on with 2021's chart-topping full-length It Won't Always Be Like This and 2023's sophomore album Cuts & Bruises. The founding members of Inhaler began playing together as preteens in late 2012 and bonded over their shared love of the Stone Roses, Joy Division, the Cure, and Interpol. With Hewson -- the eldest son of U2's Bono -- on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Josh Jenkinson on lead guitar, Robert Keating on bass, and Ryan McMahon on drums, the original quartet finished secondary school before self-releasing their first studio single, "It Won't Always Be Like This," in March 2019. Two months later, the group released "My Honest Face," which they promoted with a tour supporting Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. Following that September's "Ice Cream Sundae," Inhaler placed in the Top Five of BBC's Sound of 2020 poll. The band returned in January 2020 with "We Have to Move On" and May's "Falling In." While those two tracks were stand-alone singles, the subsequently released "When It Breaks" and "Cheer Up Baby" ultimately appeared on It Won't Always Be Like This, their 2021 debut album. The LP topped the charts in both the U.K. and Ireland. The middle of 2022 saw the release of "These Are the Days," the first single from their forthcoming sophomore effort. Working with producer Antony Genn (Goo Goo Dolls, Joe Strummer), the resulting album, Cuts & Bruises, was issued in early 2023, with the tracks "Love Will Get You There" and "If You’re Gonna Break My Heart" preceding it.
