Fatima Yamaha

Fatima Yamaha is one of many aliases used by Dutch producer Bas Bron, under which he releases understated electronic dance tracks that have a retro, synth-led aesthetic. This particular project debuted in the early 2000s with the A Girl Between Two Worlds EP. Bron revived the alias in 2015 for the LP Imaginary Lines. That was followed five years later with 2020's Spontaneous Order. This alias of Bron's originally emerged in 2004, for the release of an EP, A Girl Between Two Worlds, on D1 Music. That short set featured the single "What's a Girl to Do," which maintained traction in the decade to come. Soon after the EP was released, Bron put aside the Fatima Yamaha moniker, instead focusing on several other pseudonyms, including Bastian, Gifted, and Seymour Bits. As the years rolled by, "What's a Girl to Do" continued to circulate, gaining new momentum from various reissues, including a release on Bron's own label, Magnetron Music, and Dekmantel, both in 2015. By then the record had gained an underground following, resulting in the resurrection of Fatima Yamaha for a string of festival appearances and a full-length debut album, Imaginary Lines, which landed in 2015. The project continued here and there for the remainder of the decade, heard on 2017's EP Araya and 2019's Heian. In 2020, Bron released "Day We Met" and a handful of remixes, the first taste of his next album, Spontaneous Order. The LP also featured tracks "We Are Drops" and "Daio Alternate History." In 2022, he issued another Fatima Yamaha EP, Build Back Bangers.
