Bobi Andonov
Bobi Andonov (formerly Bobby Andonov or BOBI) is an Australian pop singer, songwriter, and producer. Born in Melbourne in 1994 to Macedonian parents, Andonov began singing when he was six years old and was performing in youth musicals by age nine. Beating out thousands of auditioners, he was later cast as Young Simba in productions of The Lion King in Melbourne and Shanghai. A student of singing, dance, piano, and guitar, he also learned to perform in the Macedonian and Italian languages.
In his mid-teens, Andonov represented FYR Macedonia in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2008, then competed on the television competition Australia’s Got Talent in 2010. As a finalist on the show, he performed songs including Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," Christina Aguilera's "Fighter," and Kanye West's "Heartless."
In 2013, at the age of 18, he debuted his original song "War Is Love," an anthemic ballad that highlighted the rock-friendly edge to his voice. He then wrote two songs for the feature film The Dream Children, which had its festival premiere in 2015, the same year his vocals could be heard on DJ Joel Fletcher's single "State of Emergency." Andonov also co-wrote the 2015 single "Stone" for X Factor Australia winner Cyrus Villanueva. That December, he announced that he’d signed with Hollywood Records. After posting covers of the likes of Alessia Cara and Drake, he reemerged in 2017 with the dramatic pop single "Apartment."
