Amelia Moore

A Los Angeles-based left-field pop artist with an experimental, dark-hued tone, Amelia Moore made an auspicious debut with her edgy 2021 single "Sweet and Sour." With its spectral production and soaring vocals, the song became a streaming hit and built anticipation for her first EP, Teaching a Robot to Love, which arrived a year later. Growing up in a conservative Christian family in suburban Atlanta, Moore has described her unusual career path as "homeschool to Hollywood." Her early musical experience was singing in her church's choir and performing in various musicals within the church. But pop music also played a big role, and while studying at Nashville's Belmont University, she became heavily involved in songwriting and music production, leaning toward the more left-field styles of influences like Lorde and Frank Ocean. After a couple of exploratory visits to Los Angeles, she decided to drop out of school and head west to forge a music career. The culture shock of trading the conservative South for the entertainment capital proved to be beneficial in her creative development. Moore teamed up with emerging electronic producer Pink Slip and began refining her eclectic songs and developing a striking visual aesthetic to match. She signed with Capitol in 2021 and found immediate success with "Sweet and Sour," a captivating track that mixed sensual vocals with glitchy and eerie production. A follow-up single, "Vinegar," appeared later that year, and Moore began a major tour with labelmate FLETCHER. Her debut EP, the seven-song Teaching a Robot to Love, appeared in the front half of 2022.
