Recorded just before the first supporting tour for the Black Keys 2011 album El Camino, and released just as the band was kicking off its second U.S. tour supporting the album, the 2012 EP The Tour Rehearsal Tapes finds the Ohio duo bashing through six songs from El Camino and Brothers. They're vigorous and muscular, sounding a bit livelier than they did on their studio versions -- something that's down to the production being stripped to the bone -- but they also don't sound quite as tentative as they have in certain festival settings, either. Sonically, it's a throwback to their earliest work and has the songcraft of their latter work, so it captures the best of both words in a fun little EP for dedicated fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine

And then Nirvana killed rock ‘n’ roll

Thirty-two years ago, Nirvana was born: the most unexpected punk swerve of the end of the 20th century. A rocketing career, international hits, hordes of fans and a tragic epilogue for this worldwide phenomenon. And what if Kurt Cobain’s band was none other than the last band in the history of rock? The ultimate generational phenomenon of genre, if not its last myth.

Tuareg Blues: The Rock Oasis

Since the Tuareg group Tinariwen released their first official album in 2002, entitled “The Radio Tisdas Sessions”, their guitar-soaked electric music has become a category of rock - one that is recognised and respected from Bamako to Los Angeles. This international success has allowed many musicians from the Sahara to get their music heard. And Western rockers have often been attracted to this poetic music emanating from the sand dunes and rocky expanses.

Lhasa, An Unforgettable Shooting Star

With only three studio albums, one live album and three international tours, Lhasa de Sela left a unique mark in the history of modern popular music. “La Llorona”, “The Living Road” and “Lhasa” are distinct and accomplished works, revealing a strange yet familiar world, halfway between dreams and reality. Her light/dark songs carry the genuine emotions of an artist whose sensitive singing offers a pact of intimate complicity with the listener. Lhasa de Sela’s life contains all the ingredients for a legend, all the steps of a novel, all the emotions of a beautiful and overwhelming story.
