As part of Blue Note's The Very Best series, tenor saxophonist Sonny Rollins is spotlighted on seven tracks recorded during his short two-year tenure, 1956 and 1957, with the label. Highlights include the Rollins-penned classic "Sonnymoon for Two," the Miles Davis composition "Tune Up," and trumpeter Kenny Dorham's "Asiatic Raes." Rollins is backed up by fellow Blue Note alumni Donald Byrd, J.J. Johnson, Art Blakey, and Horace Silver, among others, making this a prime sampler for the novice at a mid-line price.
