Peter Thomas in Orbit

In Germany they have their own Michel Legrand: he’s called Peter Thomas! His film music is often eccentric and it has left its mark on a whole generation of viewers in the 60s and 70s, to the point where he’s often been cited and sampled by numerous young pop groups since the 90s. The cult composer passed away on 17 May 2020. We had met him three years earlier, at the dawn of his 92nd birthday.

Kamasi Washington, the Sax of Angels

After his major success with a triple album, he went on to repeat this with a double one! Kamasi Washington charms and intrigues well beyond the jazz sphere. Working with Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg, and most importantly as the head of the West Coast Get Down collective, the charismatic saxophonist from Los Angeles brings an incredible wave of excitement to the contemporary jazz scene.

Jim Hall, Heartstrings

Jim Hall was a true aesthete of the jazz guitar and played with the likes of Sonny Rollins and Bill Evans, but the American virtuoso was far from flamboyant. He was a humble artist with just the six strings of his guitar as his medium.
