Kid Rock made the leap from the WEA association of labels in 2017, so it's not entirely a surprise that Warner released Greatest Hits: You Never Saw Coming. Unlike 2000's The History of Rock, which cobbled together remixes and re-recordings of songs from Kid's earlier records, Greatest Hits: You Never Saw Coming is a straight-up greatest-hits album, containing every one of Kid Rock's charting singles for Warner from 1999's "Cowboy" to 2015's "First Kiss." Some staples fall slightly outside of this chart range -- "Bawitaba" peaked at 104 -- but they're here anyway, along with a bunch of songs that only appeared on rock radio ("You Never Met a Motherfucker Quite Like Me," "Wasting Time," "American Bad Ass"). All in all, it winds up as a good summary and introduction to Kid Rock, tracing his evolution from rebel to retro-rocker.

Led Zeppelin: 50 Years of Rock

In 2018, Led Zeppelin celebrated their 50th birthday, but the only "present" on offer is a beautiful book which will come out on sale in Autumn. After having made their mark on the history of rock in just 12 years, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones have often reunited on stage and in the studio after the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980, with varying degrees of success. Let's take a look back at Led Zep's different comebacks, which we hope might throw up some nice ideas for a really good birthday concert...

Nick Cave: Bad Seed

Nick Cave and his Bad Seeds remain one of the most prolific adventures of the post-punk era. Since the late 1980s, the vast magnetism of the Australian singer has swirled through violent paroxysms, fulminating covers, piano ballads and sweaty rock'n'roll. As the years went by, Cave became more and more of a crooner, part way between a punk Frank Sinatra and an austere Johnny Cash.

Tropicália: the Story of a Brazilian Revolution

In the late 1960s, a group of young Brazilian artists rose up against the ruling military junta by fusing local popular music, rock and avant-garde. Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes and their friends invented tropicália, one of the most original musical adventures of the 20th century.
