Their music has always given us that “feelin’ good” feeling, so why change tack now? With their androgynous vocals, ethereal guitars, weightless rhythms and sensual melodies, the aptly named Cigarettes After Sex would be foolish to change their style. Maybe that’s why Cry follows directly in the footsteps of their eponymous album from 2017, Cigarettes After Sex. In this second album, the Texans take their dreamy shoegaze and pop to a whole new level – it’s enchanting, cinematographic, sultry and bordering ever so slightly on erotic. All the way through Cry, Greg Gonzalez and his partners in crime Randall Miller, Jacob Tomsky and Josh Marcus have managed to make their ambient-pop music sound similar to that of Angelo Badalamenti, the usual composer for David Lynch’s productions. This album could be a soundtrack for a film without a doubt! © Marc Zisman/Qobuz

And then Nirvana killed rock ‘n’ roll

Thirty-two years ago, Nirvana was born: the most unexpected punk swerve of the end of the 20th century. A rocketing career, international hits, hordes of fans and a tragic epilogue for this worldwide phenomenon. And what if Kurt Cobain’s band was none other than the last band in the history of rock? The ultimate generational phenomenon of genre, if not its last myth.

The Dark Side of the Moon: An Astronomical Success

Pink Floyd's ground-breaking album The Dark Side of the Moon was the result of a long creative process that began around 1968. A Saucerful of Secrets (the main track from the eponymous album) was, for Nick Mason at least, where it all began. Their next album Ummagumma (1969) gave each band member the opportunity to create a solo piece, though they would have to combine their talents if they wanted to hit the jackpot. Pink Floyd continued to search for the perfect record with Meddle, an album which highlighted their skills in the studio, and Atom Heart Mother, before they reached nirvana with The Dark Side of the Moon. And the album’s perfection hasn’t faded one bit, even forty-five years after its release.

Shooting Big Star

It took a short legacy of only two years and three albums for Big Star to enter the rock 'n' roll pantheon. Unsuccessful in the beginning of the 70’s, Alex Chilton and Chris Bell’s band is now acclaimed as one of the most influential of its kind.
