Even though the group Air has not been very productive lately, their two founding members have provided their fans with some excellent solo material. JB Dunkel has offered his fans material regularly, but, until recently, Nicolas Godin remained silent. Now, after a string of singles, the 18th September plays host to the release of Godin’s first solo disc, Contrepoint. The record is an interesting piece of reinterpretation, as Godin drew inspiration for each track from the work of Bach. Each piece, then, is a fascinating (and eclectic) counterpoint to the work of the past master. A work of inspired, albeit frequently zany, artistic distinction…
