Дмитрий Маликов

Dmitry Malikov, a Russian singer, producer and composer, was born in Moscow in 1970 to an artistic family – his father was a member of the Samotsvety, a band highly popular in USSR. No wonder that Malikov studied music since his childhood. His first major performance was the one at Zvukovaya Dorozhka festival in 1988 with the songs "Лунный сон" ("Lunar Dream") and "Ты моей никогда не будешь" ("You’ll Never Be Mine"). The success was immediate, Malikov had been named Singer of the Year two years in a row. The song "До завтра" ("Until Tomorrow") of 1989 is now at the 'Top 100 Best Songs of the 20th Century' according to Europa Plus Radio. In 1996, after two popular pop albums, Malikov released Страх полета (Fear of Flying), a surprisingly successful experimental instrumental album. His second instrumental album – Игра (Game) - was released in 2001. Malikov, releasing big hits such as "Нет, ты не для меня" ("No, You’re Not for Me") (1995), "Ты одна, ты такая" ("You’re the Only One") and "Звезда моя далекая" ("My Distant Star") (1998), never been afraid of experiments and never gave up on classical composing and performing. In 2000’s he produced club remixes on his early songs, experimented with synth pop and jazz, created innovative covers for the classical songs. 2007, he founded instrumental projects Pianomania, and in 2010 - Symphonic Mania where he performed not only as a piano player but also as a professional conductor. Along with his spotless reputation, Malikov is a recipient of multiple music awards such as Song of the Year, Golden Gramophone, and Top Hit Music Award. He is a People’s Artist of Russian Federation.
