Tim Story

Tim Story is a pianist and synthesizer player prominent in the New Age music genre. He is known for having a lighter sound and mood than many New Age performers, for his use of small ensembles in addition to the piano and synthesizer sounds. He is self-taught as a keyboard player and composer. He became interested in electronic music when analog synthesizers and other electronic instruments became widespread in the 1970s and naturally moved into the digital age when computers began to make music. He cites as his main aesthetic influence the French composers Erik Satie and Claude Debussy, as well as a wide range of jazz, pop, and classical composers and performers. He is also a recording engineer, record producer, and recording executive in his own commercial music production company in Maumee, OH. He has released eight records, many on the Hearts of Space label. In 1988, he received a nomination from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences' Grammy Award for the children's recording "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" with Glenn Close and has collaborated in two CDs with Dwight Ashley.
