Kasbo

Gothenburg, Sweden-based artist Kasbo makes delicately emotional pop songs with chilling electronics and sophisticated production touches. His underwater daydream sounds grew lusher as he ventured further into traditional pop structures, making vocal hooks as big a part of his sound as his glacial synth textures on albums like 2024's The Learning of Urgency. Producer Carl Garsbo was just 22 when he introduced his Kasbo moniker around 2013. In 2015 he released his debut EP, Umbrella Club, and followed it quickly with remixes for MUTEMATH and Big Gigantic as well as a string of viral original singles. He began performing in support of his tracks, opening tours for larger acts like ODESZA and Glass Animals. In 2017 he issued several singles in a row, "Found You," "Lay It on Me," and "Bleed It Out," each of them receiving massive attention from a growing fan base. In March of 2018 Kasbo released his debut album, Places We Don't Know, and he embarked on a headlining tour in support it. After dealing with a bout of hearing loss in 2019, Kasbo collaborated with Lizzy Land on the track "I Get You," a song that would eventually be streamed more than 15 million times. He returned with his second album, The Making of a Paracosm, in 2020. The album featured guest appearances from Freja the Dragon, Vancouver Sleep Clinic, and others. For the next several years, the producer focused on remixes and singles, but his third album, The Learning of Urgency, was slated to be released in June of 2024. Heavy on aquatic themes, the album was preceded by the singles "Drift" and "Atlantis," featuring Shallou and Swedish singer BJOERN.
