Davis John Patton

A singer and songwriter of meditative, atmospheric indie folk songs, Davis John Patton had a playlist-instigated breakthrough with "Motives" from his 2018 EP, Forest Park. His fourth EP, 2021's Songs from Davis, marked his debut for Nettwerk Records. An Iowa native, Patton started taking piano lessons as a first grader, picking up the guitar three years later. He also sang in his church choir. Inspired by hearing Bon Iver's For Emma, Forever Ago, he concentrated on acoustic folk as a teenaged singer/songwriter. Patton was in college when he wrote and recorded his first EP, early 2018's Forest Park, with help from Jacob Swegle. After making its way onto a popular streaming-site playlist, the spare electric guitar track "Motives" garnered over a million streams, with follow-up single "A Tale of Rescue" earning hundreds of thousands of its own. That brought him to the attention of singer/songwriter and producer Tyler Johnson (Sam Smith, Harry Styles), who invited him to Vancouver to record. In late 2018, they tracked five songs in seven days that became From the Garden, which he released in January 2020. Yet another EP, Poetry, followed that October. Patton then signed with the Nettwerk label, which released his fourth EP, Songs from Davis, in November 2021. It was co-produced with high school friend Patrick Cunningham and mixed by Chris Bethea (Penny & Sparrow, Brett Eldredge).
