Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie

Based in Augsburg, Germany, the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie was formed in 1990 to perform a broad repertoire, including early music and contemporary works. In addition to its annual concert series, the ensemble regularly appears at music festivals in Germany, such as the Rheingau Musik Festival, the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and the Munich Klaviersommer, and it has also been featured at festivals in France, including a residency at the Festival, l´Été Musical Dans la Vallée du Lot. The orchestra has toured Switzerland, Cyprus, Poland, and the Czech Republic, and has worked with a variety of artists, including Martha Argerich, Christopher Hogwood, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Mischa Maisky, Mario Venzago, Julia Fischer, Michel Plasson, Mstislav Rostropovich, Dave Brubeck, Bobby McFerrin, and Chick Corea. Contemporary composers, including Malin Bång, Richard Dünser, Juan José Chuquisengo, Alexander Rosenblatt, Manuela Kerer, and Moritz Eggert, have written works which have been premiered by the chamber orchestra. In 1996, the Bayerische Kammerphilharmonie received the Advancement Award for Music from the Society for Culture Promotion of the European Economic Circle. The album, Mozart in Paris, recorded with Reinhard Goebel as conductor, was supported by the cultural office of the city of Augsburg, and in February 2008; it won the Diapson d’or. In 2009, the orchestra named Goebel its first guest conductor. The Bayerisch Kammerphilharmonie has recorded for Oehms Classics and Sony Classical, among other labels.
