Леонид Агутин

Raised in an artistic family, Russian pop singer Leonid Agutin (born in Moscow, 1968) followed in his parents’ footsteps. With a professional music education of piano classes under his belt, Agutin started to perform as a supporting artist for various Soviet groups in 1989. Agutin’s debut album «Босоногий мальчик» (‘Barefoot Boy’, 1994) brought him fame immediately. He was named Singer of the Year, and also won Song of the Year (song «Хоп-хей-лала-лей» (‘Hop Hey Lala Ley’)) and Album of the Year titles in 1994. His following albums «Декамерон» (‘Decameron’, 1995) and «Летний дождь» (‘Summer Rain’, 1998) were no less popular. He was one of the brightest pop stars of ‘90s and ‘00s. The songs «Февраль» (‘February’, 1998), «Не унывай» (‘Don’t Be Sad’, 1998), duet with his wife Anzhelika Varum «Всё в твоих руках» (‘All In Your Hands’, 1999), «Граница» (‘Border’, 2003), a joint work with Otpetye Moshenniki are one of the biggest hits of this period. In 2008, Agutin’s jazz album ‘Cosmopolitan Life’ featuring Al di Meola gained worldwide recognition. In 2020, he became a winner of USA Songwriting Competition with the song ‘Just a Rainy Day’ from his album ‘La Vida Cosmopolita!’. Agutin is one of the owners of the largest number of Golden Gramophone and Song of the Year music awards in Russian show business.
