Au sommet de l’olympe rap, Kanye West signe ici un album sans concession et on ne peut plus osé. On ne pourra pas reprocher ici au rappeur né à Atlanta (mais ayant grandi à Chicago) de faire dans le commercial ou le racoleur et de se reposer sur ses lauriers… Production superbement épurée, sons electro tranchants et agressifs, flow percussif, Yeezus surprend de prime abord dans l’enchainement de ses changements de caps virulents, sa violence sonore et ses expériences tous azimuts. Mais au fil des écoutes, le climat oppressant sculpté par Kanye et sa horde de featurings cinq étoiles (Daft Punk, Kid Cudi, Justin Vernon de Bon Iver…) offre une réelle cohésion esthétique.
