Malgré une guerre pillant et épuisant la Syrie, terre de l’orientalisme, rien ne pourra enlever la culture musicale de ce pays. Basel Rajouf, né à Damas, est à l’origine du project Soriana (Soriana voulant dire « notre Syrie ») qui a enregistré The Queen Of Turquoise. Utilisant des motifs de jazz mais aussi et surtout orientaux, Basel Rajoub fait honneur à ses origines et à sa formation à l’école de musique de Damas. Trompettiste de formation, Basel Rajoub se dirige vers le saxophone suite à un problème de santé labial.
