Quatre ans séparent cet album de son prédécesseur The Wall qui plaça Pink Floyd au sommet de son succès. Un bien nommé Final Cut (a requiem for the post war dream), avec comme sous-titre "un requiem pour le rêve d'après-guerre", qui sera le dernier disque avec Roger Waters, auteur solitaire de ce concept-album qu’il interprète dans sa quasi-totalité — et le seul où n'apparaît pas le claviériste Richard Wright. Comme un premier opus solo ? Sans doute… Sa grandiloquence mise au service d’un antimilitarisme forcené (l’Angleterre et l’Argentine s’affrontent alors aux Malouines) n’est pas sans évoquer The Wall dont il retravaille d’ailleurs certaines compositions écartées à l’époque. Objectif Lune : The Dark Side of the Moon

Album phare dans la discographie de Pink Floyd, “The Dark Side of the Moon” est le fruit d’une élaboration relativement lente qui remonte pratiquement à 1968. “A Saucerful of Secrets” (le morceau phare de l’album éponyme) en est, pour Nick Mason, le point de départ. Derrière, “Ummagumma” laissait s’exprimer des personnalités qu’il allait falloir amalgamer pour décrocher la timbale. Pink Floyd poursuivit sa quête du disque idéal avec “Meddle”, sur lequel le groupe accentuait sa maîtrise du travail du studio, et “Atom Heart Mother”, avant d’atteindre le nirvana avec “The Dark Side of the Moon”, dont la perfection ne s’est jamais érodée.

Rammstein, metal über alles

Si Rammstein a rendu le metal industriel accessible comme jamais au grand public, sa manière de s’amuser avec les clichés et de flirter avec les limites du politiquement correct a parfois choqué, tout en contribuant à la popularité d’un groupe qui a marqué l’histoire de la musique grâce à ses textes, ses pochettes, ses clips et surtout son imparable sens du spectacle.

Le trip hop en 10 albums

A l’aube des années 90, la vague trip hop submerge la Grande-Bretagne avec une électro influencée par la musique jamaïcaine et les beats rap. Rythmiques chloroformées et ambiances oppressantes, Massive Attack, Portishead, Tricky, Morcheeba et quelques autres inventent une sorte de soul music sombre, futuriste et parfois très cinématographique. Coup de zoom en 10 albums sur un genre aux frontières floues mais à l’influence nette.
