Sur Diary of Alicia Keys, l’album de la chanteuse et pianiste de formation classique suit la voie de son premier album plébiscité, la chanteuse manifestant un talent encore plus prodigieux pour la soul sophistiquée. Alicia Keys explore un large éventail de styles musicaux, du R&B dominé par les cordes de "Karma" au funk produit par Timbaland sur "Heartburn", en passant par le puissant medley soul-pop de "If I Was Your Woman/Walk on By".
