Le 26 mars 1996, Busta Rhymes sortait The Coming, un premier album solo en forme de boulet de canon qui le placera d’emblée comme l’un des poids lourds du rap new-yorkais. Un classique de treize titres ici revisité en une édition Super Deluxe de trente-six plages. Un mastodonte. Certes, les versions remasterisées parviennent à faire entrer cet album dans une nouvelle époque sonore sans trop détériorer la rage d’antan. Mais c’est surtout via certains remixes et les versions instrumentales que cette édition devient intéressante. En témoignent les trois interprétations du hit Woo Hah !! Got You All In Check : l’une conviant le défunt Ol’Dirty Bastard en featuring (déjà connue des fans mais publiée pour la première fois en streaming), et deux autres remixées par J Dilla, ou Jaydee comme il se faisait appeler à l’époque. On notera également les superbes remixs de Do My Thing et Abandon Ship par DJ Scratch, achevant de faire de cette édition Super Deluxe un hommage à la hauteur du classique d’origine. © Brice Miclet/Qobuz
