La mort d’un fils, un séjour en prison, une passion pour la bouteille, un accident de voiture et des années de dépression. Pour beaucoup, l’autoroute de la mouise. Pour Margo Price, le carburant de sa plume et le tremplin vers les étoiles. Depuis Midwest Farmer's Daughter, son premier album Qobuzissime de 2016, la native d’Aledo, un trou de l’Illinois, est l’une des voix les plus respectées de la country. La vraie ! Sans additif, ni OGM ! Ex-protégée de Jack White qui l’a signée à ses débuts sur son label Third Man Records, elle a enchaîné les comparaisons avec Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Janis Joplin et Bonnie Raitt, rejoint les rangs des outlaws 2.0 de la country du troisième millénaire comme Sturgill Simpson (qui produit That's How Rumors Get Started) et Jason Isbell et, cerise sur le gâteau, chanté en duo avec le saint patron, Willie Nelson. Pour son troisième album, la reine Margo ne change rien ; ou presque. Le quotidien des petites gens, les hauts et les bas, la politique, le star-system ou le sexisme, elle cuisine tous ces thèmes à coups de punchlines incisives sans jamais avoir la main lourde sur le gras ou l’assaisonnement.
