Suzanne Danco, une soprano sincère et sensible

Disparue en août 2000, la cantatrice belge Suzanne Danco reste bien vivante dans le souvenir des mélomanes à la faveur de nombreuses rééditions, dont le superbe coffret de 8 disques publié par Decca Eloquence Australie. Mozartienne accomplie, la soprano belge fit les beaux jours du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence dès ses débuts en 1948, avant d’enregistrer des versions de référence de Shéhérazade de Ravel avec Ansermet, qui la demandait sans cesse pour toute une série de disques essentiels. Ayant eu la chance de la connaître de très près, l’auteur décrira donc l’artiste comme une amie chère.

Glenn Gould : l'extravagance ?

Il ne faisait rien comme les autres et c’est sans doute pour ça qu’il est devenu l’un des pianistes les plus respectés du XXe siècle. Avec ses interprétations inédites des grands classiques du classique, sa façon de jouer les coudes sous le clavier et ses excentricités, Glen Gould était un des musiciens les plus appréciés – et les plus critiqués – de son temps. Bruno Walter, souvenirs d’un esprit disparu
