Publié en 1983, ce cinquième album solo de l’ancien Fab Four est produit par George Martin. Pipes Of Peace s’inscrit dans le prolongement de son prédécesseur, Tug Of War, qui rencontra un vif succès en Angleterre. Certaines des chansons de Pipes Of Peace ont d'ailleurs été enregistrées au cours des sessions de préparation de ce dernier, début 1981. Mais le sommet de cette cuvée de l’aube des années 80 est évidemment la rencontre avec un certain Michael Jackson, sur deux titres : Say Say Say et The Man. Après Wings At The Speed Of Sound, Venus and Mars, Wings Over America, RAM, McCartney, McCartney II et Band On The Run, Pipes Of Peace bénéficie lui aussi du traitement de luxe de la Paul McCartney Archive Collection. Outre l’album original remasterisé, cette réédition propose de nombreux titres bonus dont sept inédits, avec en particulier une version remixée par Macca lui-même de Say Say Say. © CM/Qobuz
