Aisyah Aziz

Malay Singaporean singer-songwriter Aisyah Aziz was born Nur Aishah Aziz on May 21st, 1994 and cut her teeth as a singer at karaoke competitions where she performed until the age of 11. She later began posting videos of her singing to YouTube and rose to acclaim in 2013 after appearing on the tenth season of Malaysia's hit singing reality show Akademi Fantasia, which spawned her first song, a collaboration with Faizal Tahir and Omar K called "Mimpi". In 2014, she picked up four nominations and won the Best Collaboration category in the Music Planet Awards (APM), with a second single, "Pilihan Sejati" arriving the following year. In 2015, she also scooped four nominations at the APM awards, including Best Female Artist, Most Popular Artist (Singapore), and Most Popular Song (Singapore). After taking a month off from music to participate in the reality show My Squad Is Better Than Yours, broadcast on Mediacorp's Channel 5, she joined forces with Rizky Febian to release the emotive ballad "Indah Pada Waktunya" in 2018. The following year, she became the face of the National Environment Agency (NEA)’s 'Clean and Green' campaign, singing the theme song, "Say YES to Waste Less" and appearing in the song's music video. That same year, she left Malaysia's Rocketfuel label to become an independent artist based in Singapore. She recorded the "Lara" single for Malaysian TV drama series Cinta itu Buta in 2020 and that same year dropped her first English single, "Sugar". In 2021, she unveiled her debut full-length album, the adult contemporary-adjacent LP Pearls, which featured reimaginings of an array of modern songs including "Wicked Game" and "Purple Rain".
