Quasiment un an jour pour jour après la sortie de son quatrième album solo (troisième avec Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators) Living the Dream, lui-même précédé par la reformation de Guns N’Roses et d’une tournée de près de 18 mois en solo, Slash tient à prouver deux choses : qu’il est incapable de se reposer, et que le manque de sommeil ne porte pas atteinte à ses performances scéniques. Ce qui se traduit ici par la parution de ce live, Living the Dream Tour, enregistré le 20 février 2019 à l’Eventim Apollo de Londres. Près de deux heures de concert mettant à l’honneur l’ensemble de la discographie solo de l’homme au chapeau. Si Living in the Dream se taille logiquement la part du lion, Slash livre ici une belle rétrospective de sa carrière, donnant à cet album une allure de best of live. La production, claire et précise sans être clinique, permet d’apprécier au mieux l’énergie du groupe, retranscrivant l’ambiance du concert avec brio. Slash n’hésite pas à étirer ses morceaux au maximum (17 minutes pour World on Fire et 9 minutes pour Anastasia !), que ce soit pour parler à son public ou proposer ces solos fleuves dont il a le secret. Parfait pour se plonger pleinement dans la moiteur de la salle londonienne.
