En 1973, un an seulement après la parution du premier Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry sortait son premier album solo. Une schizophrénie qui permettait au dandy british d’assouvir en solitaire sa passion pour l’interprétation pure et dure. Sur These Foolish Things (1973), le leader de Roxy reprend notamment Dylan, les Beatles, les Stones, les Beach Boys, les Four Tops et Elvis, tandis que sur Another Time, Another Place (1974), il revisite Dylan encore, mais aussi Sam Cooke, Ike Turner, Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, Joe South sans oublier quelques pépites de girl groups 60's. Jusqu’ici inédit, ce live de décembre 1974 au Royal Albert Hall de Londres est essentiellement nourri par ces deux disques solos. L’ironie, le décalage et l’exubérance de la philosophie glam explosent à chaque seconde d’un concert grandiose et grandiloquent auquel participent trois membres de Roxy Music : le guitariste Phil Manzanera (dément !), le batteur Paul Thompson et le bassiste John Porter. Smoking, pattes d’eph et cheveux longs, Bryan Ferry livre une performance décadente à souhait, maquillant et secouant la tradition qui se laisse ébranler avec plaisir.
