En 2014 et en 2017, les « Vieilles Canailles » ont réuni le temps d’une série de concerts à Bercy trois des plus grandes stars de la chanson française : Jacques Dutronc, Johnny Hallyday et Eddy Mitchell. À la manière du Rat Pack (célèbre trio américain des années 1950 réunissant Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. et Frank Sinatra), les compères n’ont pas tellement eu à se forcer pour mettre en lumière une complicité particulièrement communicative. Une fois le casse-tête juridique solutionné (chacun des chanteurs appartenant à une maison de disques différente), il ne restait plus pour les principaux intéressés qu’à s’en donner à cœur joie dans l’art du duo et du trio, dans un répertoire parfaitement équilibré (sept titres de Dutronc, sept titres d'Hallyday, sept titres de Mitchell).


Accompagnés tantôt par un big band tout à fait l’esprit du Rat Pack, tantôt par une formation blues-rock, les trois hommes redoublent d’énergie dans des morceaux comme Pas de boogie-woogie, Les Cactus, Noir c’est noir ou bien la reprise du classique des classiques, Be Bop a Lula. Dans une ambiance moins survoltée, on appréciera aussi Il est cinq heures, Paris s’éveille (avec le solo de flûte d’Hervé Meschinet) et Couleur menthe à l’eau. Parmi les musiciens, on trouve des complices de chacun des interprètes, comme l’harmoniciste de Johnny (Greg Zlap), le guitariste de Dutronc (Fred Chapellier) ou encore le saxophoniste de Mitchell (Michel Gaucher). Dans ce live hors norme, chacun apporte donc sa couleur musicale, mais aussi et surtout son humour et son amour absolu du rock – « à la papa », est-on tenté d’ajouter. ©Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

Descriptif de l'album

En 2014 et en 2017, les « Vieilles Canailles » ont réuni le temps d’une série de concerts à Bercy trois des plus grandes stars de la chanson française : Jacques Dutronc, Johnny Hallyday et Eddy Mitchell. À la manière du Rat Pack (célèbre trio américain des années 1950 réunissant Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr. et Frank Sinatra), les compères n’ont pas tellement eu à se forcer pour mettre en lumière une complicité particulièrement communicative. Une fois le casse-tête juridique solutionné (chacun des chanteurs appartenant à une maison de disques différente), il ne restait plus pour les principaux intéressés qu’à s’en donner à cœur joie dans l’art du duo et du trio, dans un répertoire parfaitement équilibré (sept titres de Dutronc, sept titres d'Hallyday, sept titres de Mitchell).


Accompagnés tantôt par un big band tout à fait l’esprit du Rat Pack, tantôt par une formation blues-rock, les trois hommes redoublent d’énergie dans des morceaux comme Pas de boogie-woogie, Les Cactus, Noir c’est noir ou bien la reprise du classique des classiques, Be Bop a Lula. Dans une ambiance moins survoltée, on appréciera aussi Il est cinq heures, Paris s’éveille (avec le solo de flûte d’Hervé Meschinet) et Couleur menthe à l’eau. Parmi les musiciens, on trouve des complices de chacun des interprètes, comme l’harmoniciste de Johnny (Greg Zlap), le guitariste de Dutronc (Fred Chapellier) ou encore le saxophoniste de Mitchell (Michel Gaucher). Dans ce live hors norme, chacun apporte donc sa couleur musicale, mais aussi et surtout son humour et son amour absolu du rock – « à la papa », est-on tenté d’ajouter. ©Nicolas Magenham/Qobuz

La vie de Charles Aznavour pourrait se résumer aux deux mots « chanson » et « comédie ». Tel un artisan passionné, l’interprète de « Comme ils disent », qui nous a quittés en 2018, à l’âge de 94 ans, a tout donné au spectacle. Tant et si bien qu’il a fait de ce thème l’un des piliers de son œuvre.
