À certains égards, Ayo, l’enfant chérie de l’Europe (qui pourrait être la fille naturelle de Sade et Norah Jones) mélange la pop africaine et les influences soul occidentales pour créer une musique d'ambiance suave et séduisante. Fille d'un père nigérian et d'une mère tsigane roumaine ayant grandi en Allemagne, Ayo (dont le nom signifie "joyeuse" en yoruba) a une voix rauque et pleine d’émotion qui se marie à merveille avec les doux arrangements jazzy construits sur des percussions africaines, une guitare acoustique et des grooves d’orgue funky aux accents surannés. L’album inclut son premier single plein de passion, "Down on my Knees".
