Jamaica's Sizzla is one of the most prominent and talented dancehall artists on the scene. He is also one of the most prolific, turning out singles and full-length albums at an alarming rate, and while his aggressive output makes for an uneven discography, it also gives his hardcore fans plenty of righteous, roots-conscious music to absorb.

In addition to mixing dancehall with deep roots reggae, Sizzla also dabbles a bit with hip-hop influences, and JAH PROTECT is his most pronounced foray into that area yet, boasting a full-scale, bass-heavy production big on bumping beats. Sizzla's rough-and- ready raggamuffin delivery is as fiery and passionate as ever, and his themes, which focus on racial struggle ("Black People Suffering"), ganja ("Legalize It"), and spirituality ("Jah Protect") are still devoutly Rastafarian.
