La moyenne d’âge au sein du groupe approche les 70 ans, et pourtant… 44 ans après le mythique live à Hyde park (Londres), concert gratuit qui a rassemblé quelques 250 000 personnes le 5 juillet 1969, et endeuillé par la disparition tragique du guitariste Brian Jones, les Rolling Stones commémorent ce concert de légende par un live au même endroit, à domicile donc. L’album qui y est enregistré semble destiné à rester dans les annales du groupe. La voix de Mick Jagger s’est comme bonifiée avec l’âge, s’épanouissant peut-être moins dans l'ostentation au profit de la précision. Quant aux cordes de Keith Richards et Ron Wood, elles rivalisent de puissance, sans avoir rien perdu de leur superbe. Le batteur Charlie Watts, lui, n’a rien perdu de son amour pour le jazz et continue à donner sa couleur si particulière au groupe. Peut-être le dernier grand spectacle des Stones, Hyde Park Live assure le show et rassemble des morceaux d’anthologie (Paint It Black, Miss You, Satisfaction… on ne les compte plus), mais impose aussi des petits trésors comme Emotional Rescue… Un incontournable.
