Deux ans après leur deuxième album Zimmer 483, les Tokio Hotel reviennent en grande pompe avec Humanoïd, toujours en deux versions, l’une anglaise et l’autre allemande.
Nous revoilà donc plongés dans l’univers de Bill Kaulitz et sa bande : un monde où se reflète une certaine image de l’adolescence, plus orientée vers l’hystérie bon enfant que la réelle qualité artistique. Ce qui frappe dès l’ouverture de ce troisième album, c’est l’heureuse prédominance des guitares, notamment sur « Dark Side of the Sun » ou sur « Humanoïd ».
Produit entre autres par David Jost, l’homme déjà aux manettes sur le précédent opus, Humanoïd souffre bien sûr des lacunes principales du groupe : des paroles souvent insipides sur une musique préfabriquée, taillée dans le moule le plus consensuel et « commercial » possible, afin de plaire au plus grand nombre sans surtout éveiller les esprit. Sorti de ce constat pragmatique, force est de constater que Tokio Hotel sait y faire quand il s’agit de vous faire rentrer des mélodies dans la tête dès la première écoute. On pense souvent à certains groupes de « teen rock américain » sur des titres faciles mais efficaces comme sur le très « emo » single « Automatic » ou « Dogs Unleashed », et ses effluves années 80.
Avec Humanoïd, Tokio Hotel poursuit son petit bonhomme de chemin. Ni véritablement médiocre (la démarche musicale du groupe reste honnête dans sa catégorie) ni foncièrement mauvais (des millions d’adolescents respectables pourraient vous expliquer durant des heures pourquoi ils aiment ce groupe), Tokio Hotel laissera le mélomane indifférent et provoquera chez l’adolescent qui sommeille en lui l’esquisse d’un sourire. C’est déjà ça.
