Un simple coup d’œil à la pochette de l’album et le constat est clair : la chanteuse de pop anglaise Florence Welch a repris du poil de la bête. Elle qui sur ses deux précédents opus était photographiée les paupières closes, regarde cette fois ci l’objectif droit dans les yeux, comme pour affirmer que sa difficile période traversée ces trois dernières années (problèmes de voix et dépression nerveuse) est bien de l’histoire ancienne et qu’elle est plus déterminée que jamais. Pour How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, la Britannique a choisi de collaborer avec Markus Dravs dont elle admire le travail effectué sur l’album de Björk, Homogenic (1997). La facilité que possède ce dernier à délivrer des sons lourds, mixant l’organique avec l’électronique est indéniable. Les musiciens entourant la chanteuse n’ont jamais été aussi bien mis en avant et l’album se voit particulièrement sublimé par les parties de cuivres qui donnent une chaleur particulière au disque. Avec ce troisième album, la machine redémarre en trombe et confirme le talent de Florence Welch. Avec cette édition deluxe, le disque se voit enrichi de cinq chansons bonus ! © LG/Qobuz

Descriptif de l'album

Un simple coup d’œil à la pochette de l’album et le constat est clair : la chanteuse de pop anglaise Florence Welch a repris du poil de la bête. Elle qui sur ses deux précédents opus était photographiée les paupières closes, regarde cette fois ci l’objectif droit dans les yeux, comme pour affirmer que sa difficile période traversée ces trois dernières années (problèmes de voix et dépression nerveuse) est bien de l’histoire ancienne et qu’elle est plus déterminée que jamais. Pour How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, la Britannique a choisi de collaborer avec Markus Dravs dont elle admire le travail effectué sur l’album de Björk, Homogenic (1997). La facilité que possède ce dernier à délivrer des sons lourds, mixant l’organique avec l’électronique est indéniable. Les musiciens entourant la chanteuse n’ont jamais été aussi bien mis en avant et l’album se voit particulièrement sublimé par les parties de cuivres qui donnent une chaleur particulière au disque. Avec ce troisième album, la machine redémarre en trombe et confirme le talent de Florence Welch. Avec cette édition deluxe, le disque se voit enrichi de cinq chansons bonus ! © LG/Qobuz

Le trip hop en 10 albums

A l’aube des années 90, la vague trip hop submerge la Grande-Bretagne avec une électro influencée par la musique jamaïcaine et les beats rap. Kraftwerk, 50 ans d'avance

Groupe de musique électronique le plus influent de l’histoire, Kraftwerk, fondé par le duo Ralf Hütter et Florian Schneider, qui s’est éteint le 6 mai 2020 des suites d’un cancer, a toujours été en avance sur son temps. En avance sur la technologie, sur la composition, sur les performances scéniques, les Allemands ont prouvé au grand public que les machines étaient aussi capables d’émotions et ouvert la voie pour la techno, la new wave et même le hip-hop.

Lhasa, l’inoubliable comète

En seulement trois albums studio, un live et trois tournées internationales, “Lhasa” de Sela a laissé une trace unique dans l’histoire de la musique populaire contemporaine. “La Llorona”, “The Living Road” et “Lhasa” sont des œuvres distinctes et abouties qui dévoilent un univers étrange mais familier, à mi-chemin du rêve et de la réalité. Ces chansons claires obscures sont habitées par les sentiments sincères d’une artiste dont le chant à fleur de peau propose un pacte de complicité intime avec celui qui l’écoute. Il y a dans la vie de “Lhasa” de Sela tous les ingrédients d’une légende, les étapes d’un roman, les émotions d’une histoire belle et bouleversante.
