Le grunge américain des Afghan Whigs revient ici dans une version améliorée de Gentlemen. 3 disques comprenant, en plus de l’album, des démos, des instrumentaux, des faces B et des lives. L’opus est sombre, narrant l’agonie d’un couple au moment de la séparation. My Curse, une des chansons les plus dures, fut même une épreuve pour le chanteur : « J’ai essayé de la chanter, mais c’était impossible pour moi ». L’enregistrement peut sembler alors être quelque peu exorcisant, même s’il n’apparaît à d’autres que comme du rock grunge. Gentlemen est en tout cas riche en émotions, notamment dans l’implication des musiciens face au sens des paroles et de la musique en général.
