Formé à la fin des années 60 au Royaume-Uni, les Jethro Tull ont rapidement vu leur popularité grandir à travers le monde notamment grâce à des singles comme Stand Up en 1969. Leur longue carrière a été témoin de leurs nombreux changements de style incluant du blues, de la folk et surtout du rock progressif pour lequel ils sont plus largement reconnus.
C’est surtout leur quatrième album, Aqualung, qui leur a permis de laisser une trace indélébile dans l’histoire du rock : considéré comme un album-concept ayant pour thème central la religion, le disque fut enregistré aux studios Island Records de Londres est reste à ce jour le plus grand succès du groupe. Offrant un subtil mélange entre hard rock et mélodies folk, le tout recouvert par la voix de Ian Anderson proférant des textes sur la foi et la religion, Aqualung reste l’un des albums les plus cérébral ayant atteint un tel auditoire. © LG/Qobuz

C’est surtout leur quatrième album, Aqualung, qui leur a permis de laisser une trace indélébile dans l’histoire du rock : considéré comme un album-concept ayant pour thème central la religion, le disque fut enregistré aux studios Island Records de Londres est reste à ce jour le plus grand succès du groupe.
