Samuel Kim
Born in Los Angeles, California on January 17, 2002, Samuel Kim Arredondo is an American-born South Korean singer who performs under the stage name Samuel. Making his first public performance on the K-Pop live broadcast show Seventeen TV, he didn’t make his recorded debut until 2015 in the hip-hop duo 1Punch. During this period, he performed under the stage name Punch. The duo released the album The Anthem but split up shortly after the album was released. As Punch, he released the single “Spotlight”, a collaboration with Silentó, in 2016. The following year, he was a contestant – under his own name - on the second season of the South Korean televised talent competition Produce 101. Although he did not make the final cut, he became one of the most popular performers on the show. In August 2017, he released his first EP, Sixteen, which climbed to Number 4 on the Korean chart. In November, just three months later, he released his debut album, Eye Candy, which featured the single “Candy”. In March 2018, his second EP, One, was released. Arredondo then released Japanese-language versions of his singles “Sixteen” and “Candy”. They both made the Top 30 in the Japanese singles chart. In 2019, he released the non-album single “Archive People” (with Brave Hongcha) in South Korea and a new version of “One” in Japan. Along with his solo releases, he also provided songs for the soundtracks to films such as Pink Pink (2017) and Sweet Revenge 2 (2018). He was nominated four time at the Seoul Music Awards, winning the Golden Collaboration Award for “Spotlight” (with Silentó).
