A batch of early Commodores recordings -- including covers of the Intruders' "Cowboys to Girls" and Sly & the Family Stone's "Sing a Simple Song," along with the band's 1969 debut single -- has been circulated by numerous labels that have no affiliation with Atlantic or Motown. Released in 1987, Rise Up is one of them, and its lack of legitimacy is obvious from the poor artwork. This release, as with others that include the same material, should be avoided.
