Boutellis-Taft was born in Limoges, France, but grew up in Paris. He had several violinists on his father's side of his family tree, and he and his brothers all studied different instruments and played chamber music at home. Boutellis-Taft took up the violin at six, enrolled at the Tours Conservatory three years later, and went on to the Paris Conservatory, where he studied with Suzanne Gessner and earned a First Prize at age 16. He went abroad for further studies at the Royal College of Music in London (where he earned an Artist Diploma), the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and finally Tel Aviv University, where he worked with Hagai Shaham. Boutellis-Taft also took master classes with Ida Haendel, Shlomo Mintz, and Igor Oistrakh, among others. His performing career took off in the 2010s with appearances at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, and the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris. Boutellis-Taft appeared in the U.S. with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra in Ohio and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in Massachusetts, and he has continued to cultivate an American career, dividing his time between Paris and New York. He has appeared at numerous summer festivals on both sides of the Atlantic. Boutellis-Taft has performed violin-and-piano works with pianist-composers Paul Cantelon and Tara Kamangar, both of whom have written new works for him. More unusually, Boutellis-Taft has been a member, since 2015, of the duo La Rose et La Réséda with violinist Irène Duval. He made his recording debut in 2016 with pianist Guillaume Vincent on the critically lauded album Entre Orient and Occident, on the Evidence label, and in 2020, he released the album Incantation on the Aparte label, with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under conductor Jac van Steen.
