Luh Kel

A singer and rapper inspired by Tank, Usher, and Chris Brown, Luh Kel entered Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in 2019 with the brokenhearted "Wrong," his breakout platinum single. He issued his full-length debut, Mixed Emotions, later that year, earning gold certifications for the album's subsequent singles "BRB" and "Pull Up." L.O.V.E., his 2020 follow-up, featured another early highlight with "Y.O.U." and an appearance from Queen Naija. Head Melodies, a mixtape, landed in 2023 with A Boogie wit da Hoodie assisting on the title track. Born and raised in St. Louis, Luh Kel (aka Turran Coleman) started singing as a toddler. In his early teens, he joined ProjecX, a vocal group who performed across the country and recorded songs such as "Problems," released independently as a single in 2016. Kel soon began to develop as a solo artist and promoted himself on social media. An uploaded clip of "Wrong" quickly gained popularity on Instagram in early 2019 and reached another level when it became the subject of a dance challenge on TikTok. This led to a deal with Cinematic Music Group. By the end of that April, Kel had a hit to his credit when a commercially released version of "Wrong" registered on the Top 40 of the R&B/hip-hop chart. A second single, "BRB," was out within two months. Both tracks, along with his third certified single "Pull Up," appeared on his official studio debut, Mixed Emotions. The set featured guests PnB Rock ("Movie") and Jay Gwuapo ("Gone"). Luh Kel returned in October 2020 with second album L.O.V.E. The open-hearted ballad "Y.O.U," as well as the Queen Naija collaboration "Want You," quickly became two of Kel's most frequently streamed songs. Kel made his next move in 2023 with the brash mixtape Head Melodies, joined only by A Boogie wit da Hoodie.
