Bryan Adams

Bryan Adams is one of the best-selling artists in rock history, renowned worldwide for his raspy vocals and anthemic, melody-driven songwriting. The son of a British Army officer, he was born on Canadian soil in Kingston, Ontario, on November 5, 1959. He made his musical debut at 16 years old, joining the short-lived glam-rock band Sweeney Todd as a replacement vocalist. However, he fared far better as a solo artist, beginning with the release of his self-titled debut solo album in 1980. You Want It You Got It followed in 1981 and was a minor hit in Canada, while 1983's Cuts Like a Knife was a Top 10 success in both Canada and America. Reckless, which followed in 1984, became one of the decade's most commercially-successful albums, peaking at Number 1 in both Canada and America on the strength of Top 10 singles like "Run to You," "Summer of '69," and "Heaven." Bryan Adams' biggest hit came in 1991 with the power ballad "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You," which appeared in the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and peaked at Number 1 on the UK Singles Chart for a record-breaking 16 weeks. Its accompanying album, Waking Up the Neighbours, was a Number 1 hit in eight countries, as was the 1993 single "All For Love." Two years later, Adams scored his final chart-topping hit in America with "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?," and "Don't Give Up" marked his final Number 1 single in the UK in 2000. Nonetheless, he remained active as a recording artist and touring act for more than two decades thereafter, remaining in the Top 5 on the UK charts with albums like 2015's Get Up, 2019's Shine a Light, and 2022's So Happy it Hurts.
