John Barry, en la variedad está el gusto

La música para el cine precisa una sensibilidad y destreza especial a fin de desenvolverse con dignidad en todos los estilos: del sonido discotequero para una escena de night-club a un madrigal para un film de época, el compositor cinematográfico debe saber desempeñarse en cualquier campo. Y John Barry no dejó de demostrarnos, una y otra vez, que fue uno de los mejores autores de bandas sonoras, capaz de abarcar todos los géneros cinematográficos y musicales.

Tim Burton en 10 álbumes

Ya sea con sus films en imagen real o de animación, recurriendo a la técnica de stop-motion, Tim Burton ha ido construyendo a lo largo de más de tres décadas un universo cinematográfico donde lo maravilloso y la poesía se amalgaman con lo gótico y el humor negro. Y, mayormente, ha sido el compositor Danny Elfman el encargado de acompañarle en esta aventura. Sin las imágenes de Burton, la música de Elfman no habría sido la misma, y lo mismo podría decirse al contrario. Como se sigue comprobando este 2019 gracias a la conmovedora Dumbo.

Jorge Bolet & Franz Liszt

Jorge Bolet arrojó una nueva luz sobre la música de Franz Liszt gracias a una visión a la vez poética y lírica, muy alejada del virtuosismo gratuito y chillón oído demasiado a menudo. Al inicio de los años 1980, Jorge Bolet graba para DECCA una antología del compositor húngaro que hará historia, a la que conviene añadir otras grabaciones realizadas para el sello español ENSAYO, RCA en los años 1970, EVEREST en 1960, junto con grabaciones de estudio y de radio en los años 1950, cuando su asombrosa técnica estaba en su apogeo.
