El segundo álbum de Lana Del Rey altera significativamente la fórmula del exitoso debut Born to Die, al prescindir de momentos animados como "Summertime Sadness" para sumergirse en una atmósfera espesa, hecha de canciones lánguidas y arreglos opulentos. A partir de la melancolía extendida del primer tema "Cruel World", siete minutos de un clima de ensueño empapado en reverberación, Ultraviolence se convierte en una sinfonía anhelante y hechizada que arde lentamente sin jamás estallar o consumirse. Desmintiendo aquellos que critican su imagen por considerarla prefabricada y comercial, este trabajo sutil y maduro pone en evidencia que cada cliché, letra balbuceante o alusión exagerada a la desesperación constituye un elemento perfectamente calculado del cautivante proyecto estético y experimento sonoro denominado Lana Del Rey.
