Roger Waters compuso The Wall, una ópera rock narcisista en disco doble que cuenta la historia de una estrella de rock traumatizada. The Wall dibuja un retrato tan desfavorable de la estrella de rock (que recibe el astuto nombre de "Pink"), que culpa a todo el mundo (en especial a las mujeres) de sus neuras. Estas deficiencias en cuanto al tema y las letras se habrían podido perdonar si el disco hubiera contenido canciones de primera, pero Waters llevó sus inclinaciones operísticas al corazón y elaboró el disco como una serie de fragmentos que mantienen su cohesión con piezas de mayor envergadura como "Comfortably Numb" y "Hey You". Presentación del Álbum
Roger Waters compuso The Wall, una ópera rock narcisista en disco doble que cuenta la historia de una estrella de rock traumatizada. The Wall dibuja un retrato tan desfavorable de la estrella de rock (que recibe el astuto nombre de "Pink"), que culpa a todo el mundo (en especial a las mujeres) de sus neuras. Estas deficiencias en cuanto al tema y las letras se habrían podido perdonar si el disco hubiera contenido canciones de primera, pero Waters llevó sus inclinaciones operísticas al corazón y elaboró el disco como una serie de fragmentos que mantienen su cohesión con piezas de mayor envergadura como "Comfortably Numb" y "Hey You". Las canciones más elaboradas están entre lo mejor de Pink Floyd, pero The Wall es ante todo un triunfo en su producción: su superficie forma una sola pieza en la que se mezclan fragmentos melódicos y efectos de sonido, lo que hace que las deficiencias musicales y las discutibles letras del disco sean fáciles de pasar por alto.
