No por casualidad Nathaniel Rateliff tiene contrato con Stax. Con su grupo The Night Sweat este nativo de Denver se ha ido convirtiendo con el tiempo en embajador atento e hipermotivado del soul húmedo y sureño tal como lo entendían las luminarias del célebre sello de Memphis a finales de los 60. Gracias a su virtuosismo instrumental, a la fuerza de sus canciones, a su incandescencia interpretativa y a un órgano vocal propio del predicador más encendido, Tearing At The Seams homenajea ese vasto patrimonio musical que va de Otis Redding a Van Morrison, pasando por Booker T. & The MG’s, Ray Charles o Creedence Clearwater Revival. Como cabe imaginar, la sección rítmica va a mil por hora, los metales echan fuego y la voz de Rateliff es un bramido furioso surgido directamente de las tripas.
